This is an editorial planning note, not a field report about any Pacific country. Communities, languages, institutions and legal systems differ. Australia-focused advice should not be presented as a single regional rulebook. We are seeking relevant contributors before publishing country-specific claims or documented case studies.

Make quality local and observable
Hypothetical example: a community organisation wants a draft translation of public service information. Before using it, a competent local reviewer compares meaning, cultural appropriateness and missing exceptions against the original. The draft is not used for clinical, legal or emergency advice. This example is not evidence that a particular product works well in any Pacific language.
A constructive Australian role
We favour locally led design, fair terms for data use and maintenance funding, and meaningful participation in regional AI discussions. These are policy preferences—not a claim that a project or agreement already exists. A promising demonstration should not bypass local decision-making or substitute for sustained investment in people and services.
